This is it!!

Well. What a season for Yeovil Town!  I don't really know where to begin! That first game back in August seems so long ago now. And its been a long old road since. Prior to the season starting,  I had predicted we would finish 10th, and as much as I love Gary Johnson,  I thought I was still being optimistic. We started the season very brightly, but then had a little wobble and lost 6 games in a row and in this league that means you slip way down as its such a tight division. But, conversely,  win a few games on the bounce and you are right back up there - and that's exactly what Yeovil did, and pretty much stayed there in those playoff positions or there and there abouts for the remainder of the season. We even dared to dream of automatic promotion but results didn't go our way. Its strange to think that having been optimistically predicting 10th at the start of the season that I was a little disappointed we didnt bag second!

Its been a great season - at the away games for me certainly. The trip to Leyton Orient in the Paint Pot trophy was probably one of my favourites,  in spite of the fact we were absolutely garbage. It was one of the biggest away followings I have ever been a part of and we did not stop singing for 90 minutes. While it would have been lovely to get to Wembley,  I would much rather do it via the playoffs....

But here we are - in the playoffs and playing Sheffield United over two legs this weekend. First its our turn to head up the motorway and we're kicking off at 7:45 tomorrow night at Bramall Lane. I am absolutely sick to my stomach with nerves right now. This is it - and I think we are ready. We blew it in 2007 under Russell Slade but I don't think we could have handled the Championship at that time. Now, I truly believe we would have a decent chance of going up and staying up. And if not it will be one hell of a season either way with some very tasty away games in prospect.

I just hope we get there, to Wembley at least. On our day, we can beat anyone and over two legs we have a real chance against Sheffield United.  Whether we would have a chance against Brentford or Swindon in the final is another matter but let's get there first...
